In 1983. Macquarie University in Sydney, introduced Croatian language and culture study courses, on the basis of a grant provided by the Government. Financial support was extended to fund the Croatian Studies Program for an initial 3 years.

The Croatian Community established the Croatian Studies Foundation (CSF) in 1984., with the primary objective of ensuring the continuity of the Studies Program.

The Foundation provides required financial resources to maintain the operational continuity of the Croatian Studies Centre at Macquarie University. In addition, the Foundation organises events to promote knowledge and understanding of the Croatian language, history and culture.
